I had been interested in CrossFit for about two years before I walked through the door. I had a family member tell me that he gets sick and almost passes out during the workouts. I should have never listened to him. I was a competitive swimmer and dancer when I was younger so I have always enjoyed pushing myself. A good friend told me that anyone can do CrossFit and that I should give it a try. I am so happy that I listened to her.
My first impressions were that while everyone is like a big family they are also serious about reaching their personal goals. I was so impressed with the coaches because they each took time meet me and help me improve my techniques. The only part that has changed is that now I feel like a member of the 2311 family.
I am still a beginner so I am working on everything. I am trying to visualize the lifting movements and turn that into my reality. I am really working on my running. It is what I despise but know that is because I need it the most. I know as my body continues to change and I get more wind I will be able to dislike running less. I am also slowly adding weight to my lifts.
My greatest achievement thus far has been walking through the door each week. I can see how it might be intimidating to people because most at 2311 are in great shape but I do not mind being last as long as I finish my workouts.
My favorite CrossFit memory happens almost every WOD. I am so supported by my coaches and 2311 family. I love hearing the encouragement offered to each person. I also love that I feel better. My physical, mental and spiritual health has improved more over the past month and a half than in the past four years. I am becoming a better me!
