- What brought you to CrossFit?
There were several reasons I started at CF2311. First of all, my husband and I had recently moved to Waynesville and had our second child around the same time, and I desperately needed a kick start back into fitness. I had always been active, but moving to a new place and not knowing anyone, I needed a jump start. My husband had heard of CF2311 through a friend of his at work and he decided to start On-Ramp. I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical, being a surgical nurse and having heard of crossfit injuries. However, it made me feel much more at ease to know that one of the owners/coaches is a PT! After my husband completed On-Ramp, and loved it, I decided to take the plunge and I’m so glad I did! In addition, it’s been a great thing for my husband and I to do together.
- What was your first impression? How has that changed?
My first impression of CF2311 was that it was definitely intimidating! But I soon realized that everyone is so supportive and helpful and that it is a close-knit family atmosphere. We are all there to help and encourage each other in our fitness goals.
- What are you working on now?
Umm, I’m working on everything!! Mainly I am continuously working on my form in lifting and trying to challenge myself daily to improve. I tend to think, if I make the time and effort to get there, I may as well give it my all.
- What was your greatest achievement?
I can’t really pinpoint ONE great achievement. I think it’s been a series of achievements, seeing where I came from when I first started 10 months ago. My endurance and strength have improved greatly, as has my mental health from getting regular exercise with uplifting people and coaches.
- What’s your favorite CrossFit 2311 memory?
My favorite memory was probably completing my first RX workout last month. It wasn’t necessarily the biggest workout and it took me 9 months to get there, but I did it, when I never thought it was possible before!
